Military in the 21st CenturyDas Phänomen der Post Traumatischen Stress Belastungsstörungen, Symptome und Ursachen, in Zusammenhang mit den Streitkräften der Vereinigten Staaten, militärischem Personal und VeteranInnen, sowie die Auswirkungen auf die Organisation selbst, als auch gesellschaftliche und soziale Gesichtspunkte steht im Mittelpunkt dieser Arbeit. Dabei werden Konflikte des 21. Jahrhunderts und mögliche Auswirkungen auf die Gesellschaft der USA im Vordergrund stehen. Die Auswirkungen des Krieges auf aktives Militärpersonal sowie VeteranInnen werden, spätestens seit Vietnam, von der Forschung ernsthaft untersucht. Stand in der Vergangenheit oftmals die psychologische und teils psychiatrische Betrachtungsweise im Vordergrund der Analyse und Methodik hinsichtlich des Phänomens PTSD, wurde das Arsenal der WissenschaftlerInnen um Werkzeuge im Bereich biologischer, physiologischer und genetischer Forschung erweitert und vertieft. In die Betrachtung miteinbezogen werden, neben den Erkenntnissen aus diesen Forschungen, auch die Darstellung des Phänomens in Kunst und Kultur. Anhand von Beispielen werden Auswirkungen und Änderungen innerhalb der Organisation der Streitkräfte der Vereinigten Staaten dargestellt.„Dream of War“Review and Analysis of Organizational, Operational and Cultural Impact of Post Traumatic Stress Disorders (PTSD) on the US. The conflicts of the 21st century and their presumed impact on the United States social fiber, This paper will focus on the impact of Post Traumatic Stress Disorders on the United States Armed Forces, military personal and veterans on various levels. Sources and symptoms as well as risk factors for PTSD in regards to their social and fiscal consequences on the United States society will be displayed. The impact of PTSD, sources and symptoms as well as treatment have been object of wide spread scientific research within the United States since at least the aftermath of Vietnam.While in the past the focus of research lay in the psychological as well as psychiatric field, current research uses a variety of tools coming from biological, physiological and genetic analysis and studies. These tools have provided researchers with new insights into the workings of PTSD and related issues like the Traumatic Brain Injury.
